I am a BAMS doctor in government hospital, and I am going to appear for CAT 15. I have recently joined some classes for CAT but finding it really difficult. My Maths is not that good. Everybody is saying that only engineers can perform well in CAT. And I don't really have any idea about what to do and what not to do. Please help me out sir.
Thanks and regards

First of all, do not be scared. I repeat, do not be scared. I have taught at least 10 students from Medical background who are at one of the top business schools right now or have graduated. Finish your basics across all the chapters and do the Level of Difficulty 1 questions. Once you are done with them, segregate your topics into: 1) Strong hold. 2) Average hold 3) Weak hold. After you are done with this exercise, practice the Strong and Average topics from Level of Difficulty 2 and past year CAT papers. Now that you do not have enough time till CAT, I would advise you to focus on these two areas specifically. For me, Quantum CAT was a good book to finish all the fundamentals and Level of Difficulty 2 based questions.

It is always a difficult task when we start our preparations at first. Specially, if you have medical background. The first thing you need to understand is that if you remain regular with your preparation without any ups and downs you are sure to succeed. I have taught students who didn't know anything in Maths and they managed to score 99 percentile. Believe me as I say it here, the only thing which made that possible was their consistency and perseverance. In order to perform exceptional you need to select a coach who understands your weak points and help you improve them rather than teaching you everything. Identifying your flaws is the most important first step. Perform a SWOT analysis in Maths and see what are the areas you actually need to work. Set your agendas straight and work systematically. Success will be yours.
